Stage Management
Street Scene - Spring 2014
Street Scene was my debut as a stage manager in Nueva. I had the privilege of meeting and working with the director Clark Lewis, a highly theatrical experienced individual, including some time spent on Broadway. The play takes place in a brownstone in Hell's Kitchen, opening a window into the world of conflict in the every day life of poor immigrants. I was responsible for assisting the director, which included but was not limited to running cues during the show and keeping the stage group under control. Everything that took place on the stage was a matter of me doing my job. All lights, music, and sound were my responsibility. I enjoyed watching the play develop, particularly the way my work contributed to the final product. It was a wonderful introduction into the technical side of theater after numerous experiences on stage.

Anything Goes - Spring 2014
I did not become involved with the musical Anything Goes until after I met Clark. He asked me to join his theater company, Roustabout, while they were in the progress of rehearsing Anything Goes. The student stage manager they had was a senior, so they were in need of a replacement. I started on the bottom rung of the staff crew as a backstage technician. I attended some rehearsals in order to get the flow of the show and then assisted with set changes during the production. It was a fascinating transition from being the one in charge to being the underdog.

Thoroughly Modern Millie - Summer 2014
After being a backstage technician at Roustabout, I was promoted to assistant stage manager for the production of the musical Thoroughly Modern Millie. This meant that I attended every rehearsal and shared some leadership responsibilities with the stage manager. During the production, I facilitated scene changes. It was another essential experience in the world of theater.

Status Update - Fall 2014
Back at school, Nueva's guest director Rebecca Martin requested me as the stage manager for Status Update, a student-written play made up of vignettes (which I was a part of writing). It was fascinating working with a different director as stage manager, as it completely changes the flow of the job. As a semi-musical, it was a step up from the simple Street Scene, my only other stage managed show at the time. It help me further fine-tune my stage managing skills and tackle even more challenges.

42nd Street - Spring 2015
I worked on the musical 42nd Street at Roustabout as the show stage manager. I had never before full-on stage managed an actual musical, so it was an interesting journey. There were more cues, more dances, more costumes, more music, and more props for me to keep track of. It also involved much more as far as ensemble pieces go, which made my blocking-recording job that much more challenging. It was a lovely growing opportunity.

South Pacific - Summer 2015
My role at Roustabout only got more challenging in the summer when I stage managed the musical South Pacific. A combination of minimal tech rehearsals and a vast array of special effects provided a chance for me to prove myself before going to college. I am thankful for Roustabout's ability to constantly challenge me as a person and a stage manager, providing me with endless opportunities for success.
